hearing technology

Hearing technology has vastly improved in the past decade, and continues to improve at a rapid pace. Most hearing aid technology is adaptable from one "style" of hearing aid to the next. Think of the "style" of the hearing aid, whether the hearing aid is an ITE (in-the-ear), or IIC (invisible-in-canal), as the "shell" for the technology. The style is merely the case which houses the inside technology that you choose for your hearing aids. We have 5 levels of technology, from very basic, to extremely advanced. All levels of technology are simple to use, but hearing quality and number of features will increase as you move up to higher technologies. While listening to your needs and concerns, our professionals will help you choose the correct style and technology for your hearing instruments. Below is a list of some of the most common styles of hearing aids.

BTE :
( Behind The Ear )

BTE instruments' technology is housed in a casing that rests behind the ear. A clear plastic tube then directs amplified sound into an earmold inside the ear canal.

RIC :
( Receiver In Canal )

The receiver-in-canal device is small, discreet, and incredibly quick to fit; perfect for many first-time wearers.

ITE :
( In The Ear )

In-the-ear : instruments house the technology components in a custom-formed earmold that fits within the outer portion of the ear.

CIC :
( Completely In Canal )

CIC : These devices fit completely in the canal. Only the head of a tiny plastic line - with which you insert or remove the instrument - shows above the canal.

IIC :
( Invisible In Canal )

IIC : Our newest custom fit style is truly 100% invisible when worn. Living in the second bend of the ear, the IIC can only be selected with the highest level of technology.
